Troy, Michigan - Thursday, February 18, 2010
The City of Ann Arbor, Mich. has found a long-term partner that will help them reduce costs, empower employees and citizens and take advantage of the industry’s most current and leading technology. The City has signed a contract to license New World Systems’ integrated Logos.NET® Public Administration suite of applications on the Microsoft.NET™ platform to replace an older complicated system.
“We wanted our new solution to lower our costs and reduce our technology risk,” said Karen Lancaster, Associate Finance Director. “The City was looking for the most current technology that would allow us to harness the power of the Microsoft tools we already use, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel. Our new solution also needed to decrease the complexity of everyday tasks and make it easier for our employees to be more productive.”
To find a new solution that would best meet their needs, the City conducted an extensive evaluation of available solutions and companies. Their due diligence led them to select New World Systems as the perfect partner to provide the technology and easy-to-use solutions they require.
“New World’s solutions aligned with all our technology standards,” said Dan Rainey, IT Director for the City. “New World is allowing us to extend our current investments in technology instead of making new ones. We don’t have to worry about spending extra time and money training our people outside of what they know. “
“New World has a great product,” said Lancaster. “By far the look, feel and usability of New World’s software was heads above the competition.”
According to Lancaster, the fact that New World is a local Michigan-based company and has been dedicated exclusively to local government for nearly three decades was an added bonus to the City.
New World Systems will provide the City of Ann Arbor with Logos.NET Financial Management, Position Budgeting and eSuite software developed in-house using proven Microsoft.NET™ technology, industry-standard Windows® Server and SQL® Server. The web-based and easy-to-use solutions will give the City more access to information quickly and easily.
“The software has hundreds of standard reports that are so easy to get to,” explained Lancaster. “The ability to drill down to source information from our reports will save us significant time and energy when we’re trying to understand our data. New World’s effortless integration to Microsoft Excel will also be very useful and provide us many more options for analyzing data, freeing our users from being tied to the financial system all day.”
New World’s Business Analytics solution puts information at the fingertips of City employees, allowing them to better analyze and forecast using current and accurate financial data. The software will help Ann Arbor present information in a clear, concise way for decision makers and citizens. In the future, the City will also use New World’s eSuite software to open a citizen portal, offering the public a chance to view information and conduct business with the City via the web.
The City of Ann Arbor is home to the University of Michigan and has a population of more than 115,000 residents. The progressive and highly regarded City regularly receives awards and recognition by organizations, including the American Institute for Economic Research, Business Week Magazine, U.S. News and World Report, CNN/Money Magazine and many more. New World Systems is looking forward to helping the City maintain their leadership and move ahead in the future.
“New World’s skill and leadership position enables them to make decisions and move quickly, especially when it comes to software development and upgrades,” said Lancaster. “They are a very solid yet nimble company, which is how we are set up as well.
